React Job: Software Engineer

Nosto is hiring a Software Engineer for the Sydney location.

As a software engineer in our UGC team, you will be building a range of new features and integrations, maintaining the stability of the application, as well as improving upon the existing functionality. You will have the opportunity to work on various parts of the system,implementing coding standards and best practices while utilizing the latest technologies on the job.

About the Opportunity

As a software engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining various frontend and backend features within the UGC platform. You will work closely with product managers,UX designers and other software engineers to deliver meaningful applications that shape shoppers' daily lives.As a member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining development team oversight, with a strong focus on process, organization and a proactive approach to delivering product requirements.You will be ensuring high-quality output of the development team through code reviews, peer coding, knowledge-sharing sessions, mentoring, and daily guidance.

What we expect:

• 4+ years of software development experience utilizing both front-end and back-end technology
• Experience with AWS utilizing tools such as Lambdas, SQS, RDS, EC2/VPC, CloudFront and S3
• Strong JavaScript skills and experience working on backend Node.js applications
• Strong understanding of Queue-based systems & dealing with high-traffic website load
• Developing secure code, and maintaining security standards as recommended by Owasp.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora, MongoDB, DynamoDB
• Experience with Git and GitHub.
• Experience with working in an agile team utilizing Jira or similar tools.
• Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English and drive to contribute ideas and share knowledge proactively.
• Comfortable working with legacy code with a desire to incrementally upgrade it.

What we appreciate:

• Experience in working with PHP applications
• Knowledge of ReactJS or similar front-end frameworks and global state management tools such as ReduxJS
• Good understanding of microservice and serverless applications
• Good understanding of software design patterns and best practices
• Experience with TypeScript and GraphQL.
• Experience interfacing with third-party APIs
• Understanding of social networks. (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) APIs.

Working at Nosto you’ll be one of the leading developers within a global product company. You’ll work in a modern and fast-moving product team with experienced and friendly teammates. Our UGC product team is located on the East Coast of Australia, with many in the Greater Sydney Area.Our team is currently working fully remotely, but we have an office available at Martin Place Sydney for easy access.Our office includes an automatic coffee machine, beer on tap, and high-speed internet access for our team.

We’re primarily looking for candidates in Sydney, but are open to candidates across Australia who are comfortable with a full remote working environment. (We won’t be considering international applicants for this role).
